Mission of Saint Anthony Mary Claret, SAKDJE

Sakdje, Cameroon. The Claretian missionaries in Cameroon have opened a new mission in the Archdiocese of Garoua, in the north of Cameroon. Friday, October 22, was a day of joy and dance; this is how the Claretian missionaries were received on their arrival in the town of Sakdje, in the north of Cameroon. The people showed their joy even with tears and holding their shepherd’s staffs as a sign of welcome to the missionaries who came to stay with them.

Sakdje is in the north of Cameroon. The northern part of the country is known for the presence of Muslims and some parts have suffered from Boko Haram insurgencies. In this poor area it rains less and therefore they have occasional problems to get drinking water. Its inhabitants are peasants and nomads. Despite these problems, they are a joyful people and are willing to serve God with humility.
